Police search for hit-and-run driver

Police are looking for a Ford Focus sedan that fled Tuesday night after hitting a pedestrian who was killed in the collision on Honoapiilani Highway in Lahaina, police said.

The collision occurred at 11:49 p.m. near Kai Hele Ku Street as the Ford Focus traveled north on the highway, police said. The pedestrian was walking across the road and wasn’t in a crosswalk, police said.

He was identified as 37-year-old Luke Hall, who had no local address.

Police said the Ford Focus is within model years 2004 and 2007. The vehicle will have damages to the front bumper and hood area, as well as possible damages to the windshield, police said.

The traffic death was the 21st this year on Maui County roads, compared to 16 at the same time last year.
