Kula man arrested with drugs, guns
Police arrested a Kula man after seizing drugs and a loaded handgun in searches of him and his vehicle Monday.
Na Alii Peralta, 44, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition, keeping a revolver in an improper place, keeping ammunition in an improper place, second-degree promoting of a dangerous drug, third-degree promoting of a detrimental drug and possessing drug paraphernalia.
His bail was set at $42,000 during his initial appearance Wednesday in Wailuku District Court.
Police vice narcotics officers executed warrants to search Peralta and his vehicle at 1:25 p.m. Monday at 851 Eha St. in Wailuku, according to court records. Police reported recovering 16.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 2.34 grams of marijuana, a loaded .38-caliber handgun, .38-caliber bullets and drug paraphernalia.
Peralta, who is also known as Brysen Keola Peralta, told officers there was a quantity of methampetamine in his vehicle and a loaded firearm in his backpack, according to police.
According to the complaint filed against him, Peralta could face mandatory minimum sentencing as a repeat offender with two prior convictions for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle in 2014 cases.
