Property tax bills subject of meeting

Maui County Council Member Alice Lee will hold a community meeting to discuss two recently passed bills on property tax reform.

The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Pu’u Kukui Elementary School cafeteria at 3700 Kehalani Mauka Parkway in Wailuku.

The bills will change tax classifications and set the framework for new tiered rates. Lee, who holds the Wailuku-Waihee-Waikapu residency seat, said topics of discussion will include the purpose of tax reform, potential benefits to Maui County residents and when the proposed changes will occur. Questions and comments are welcome.
