Haleakala trail to be closed intermittently

There will be intermittent closures of the Pa Ka’oao (White Hill) Trail at Haleakala National Park between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. weekdays from Wednesday to July 31 for trail improvement work.

The half-mile trail begins near the Haleakala Visitor Center at the summit.

The National Park Service will be making improvements to the trail, including stabilization work. Closures only will be on an as-needed basis for visitor safety.

The trail will be open when work crews are not on the trail, and will remain open for sunrise and sunset use. All other trails and facilities in the park will remain open.
