Drugs found at Kanaha Beach Park
WAILUKU — Responding to calls about drug activity at Kanaha Beach Park, patrol officers recovered methamphetamine, marijuana and illegal pills after identifying vehicles being used in drug sales, police said.
Through investigation, officers identified a woman and her boyfriend as suspects and were able to make purchases and obtain search warrants, police Assistant Chief John Jakubczak said at a Maui Police Commission meeting Wednesday.
He said the search warrants were executed at 5:45 p.m. Feb. 3. Police recovered methamphetamine, processed marijuana, illegal pills and paraphernalia, Jakubczak said.
He commended Wailuku patrol officers for their work.
Jakubczak said “it was a nice prelude to the cleanup” that occurred at the park last week when police and county agencies removed abandoned vehicles and illegal encampments from the Kahului park.
