Woman’s suffrage topic of discussion

Ron Williams Jr. will present “Before ‘The Movement’: 19th-Century Campaigns for Woman’s Suffrage in Hawai’i” from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday on the lawn at Hale Ho’ike’ike at the Bailey House, 2375-A Main St. in Wailuku. Admission is free.

Williams holds a Ph.D. in the history of Hawaii, centered on a historiography that platforms native voice through Hawaiian-language sources. Williams is owner/historian at Ka ‘Elele Research and Writing, an archivist at the Hawai’i State Archives and past president of the Hawaiian Historical Society.

Refreshments will be served following the presentation and question-and-answer period.

Grant in aid for aspiring teachers

The Gamma Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International announces its Selective Recruitment Grant-In-Aid Program. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one high school senior on Maui and a college student from Maui pursuing a career in education.

The Gamma Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma’s yearly rummage sale during the summer provides the funding for this scholarship.

Preschool hosts Ohana Fun Fair

Iao Preschool in Wailuku will present its annual Ohana Fun Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Iao United Church of Christ campus, 2371 West Vineyard St., in Wailuku. There will be food booths, entertainment, a silent auction and rummage sale.
