High-surf advisory in effect for east-facing shores
The National Weather Service extended a high-surf advisory for east-facing shores of Maui and Molokai through 6 tonight.
Surf of five to eight feet, with trade winds over and upstream of the islands will keep surf elevated along east-facing shores.
Beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves, longshore and rip currents, making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Also, a small craft advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Monday for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel and other areas. East winds of 20 to 25 knots will make conditions hazardous for small craft.
