Wind advisory in effect till Tuesday

A wind advisory will be in effect for Maui County from 6 a.m. today till 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Winds are expected to be the strongest over ridges and through passes, the National Weather Service said Sunday afternoon. On Maui, winds will be strongest down from the West Maui Mountains and Haleakala.

Winds this strong could down tree branches, tents and other temporary structures, as well as cause localized power outages. Motorists, especially those in high profile vehicles, should drive with caution.
