Flower farmers struggle in pandemic

Kula flower farmer Mario Gaggero of Paradise Flowers plows a field while preparing to plant corn and beans on another farmer’s lot at the Kula Agricultural Park on Thursday morning. Gaggero said the COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on flower growers. “The flowers are really getting hit,” he said. “It is 100 percent tourism. There is no social gatherings, weddings. It is hard times for flower farmers.”
