Woman accused of stealing beer
A woman was arrested Monday for allegedly illegally entering a residence in Kihei and stealing a bottle of beer, according to police.
Keani McManus, 40, who gave no local address, was charged with first-degree burglary, violating public health emergency rules and fourth-degree theft.
Her bail was set at $5,300.
According to a declaration filed in court to support the charges, the manager of the property on Halama Street followed McManus to the nearby beach area and directed police to her location.
A police officer reported contacting her at the rock jetty south of the Lipoa Street beach access. She wasn’t conducting an essential activity and wasn’t wearing a mask, in violation of public health emergency rules, police reported.
A bottle of beer was found on the ground at the end of the beach access, police said.
McManus was among 33 people arrested in May for violating public health emergency rules, according to police records.
