Nuestro gives $150,000 for food
The Nuestro Futuro Foundation donated $150,000 to the Maui Food Bank to help those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The initial $100,000 donation could purchase about 125,000 pounds of food, but the foundation gave another $50,000, which can buy 62,500 pounds more.
“Feeding people on Maui is the first goal in this unsettling time. We knew we had to act quickly,” said Abigail Perrin, executive director of the foundation. “Working together, we can make a difference in the lives of our Maui ohana.”
Since 2009, Nuestro Futuro has given grants to various nonprofits on Maui, such as Grow Some Good, Malama Family Recovery Center, Haiku Elementary Foundation, La’a Kea and Roots School.
Nuestro Futuro was founded in 1999 and operated as a program that brings technology to schools in Bolivia for 10 years. Its mission is to build community, fund education, youth programs, and addiction recovery programs.
