3rd day of heat for the record books
For the third straight day, the high temperature at Kahului Airport, which hit 92 degrees Wednesday, tied or broke a record for the day.
The high temperature tied the mark set last year, according to the National Weather Service.
As the summer begins to heat up, the 93 degrees Tuesday and 94 degrees Monday broke records set in 1991 (91 degrees) and 1980 (93 degrees), respectively. Ten heat records were broken or tied in June.
More hot weather is forecast today with the high temperature possibly reaching 94 degrees, the weather service said. It will be another sunny and breezy day with northeasterly winds blowing up to 15 mph and increasing to 20 mph in the afternoon.
The night should be mostly clear with easterly winds blowing 10 mph. Overnight low temperatures should be between 68 and 74 degrees.
