UH-MC garden gets some attention

Summer interns Emmah Pahulu (foreground) and Kaleinani Kana pull weeds Tuesday afternoon at Kauluwehi Ethnobotanical Garden on UH-Maui College’s Kahului campus. They said they were preparing the area to spread mulch. Kauluwehi means, “a place for beautiful plants to thrive.” Re-envisioning the college’s Community Garden, the Sustainable Living Institute of Maui uses a new design by UH-Maui College student Dustin Palos to showcase endemic and indigenous plants.
