DOH reports 114 new cases, 13 more deaths

The state Department of Health reports 13 new deaths in the state as of noon today, including 12 on Hawaii Island and one on Oahu, as well as 114 new cases statewide, including nine on Hawaii Island and 106 on Oahu.

There are now 11,217 total cases statewide, including 10,119 on Oahu, 632 in Hawaii County, 366 in Maui County (including 15 on Molokai and none on Lanai) and 57 in Kauai County. Twenty-eight cases have been diagnosed out of state.

As a result of updated information by the DOH, two cases from Honolulu were removed from the count and one case from Kauai was re-categorized to Honolulu.

Twelve deaths among residents of the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo have been confirmed and added to the state’s reported COVID-19 related deaths today, according to the DOH. These deaths include 11 men and one woman between the ages of 70 and 80 with underlying health conditions. Ten of the residents passed away at the home and two others were hospitalized. The Health Department said that reporting on these deaths was delayed due to pending medical reports required for verification and classification of deaths as COVID-19.

An additional death, unrelated to the home, is also being reported today. A 70 to 79-year-old Oahu man, with underlying health conditions, who had been hospitalized at the time of his death.

This brings the statewide total to 120 deaths, including 95 on Oahu, nine in Maui County, 15 in Hawaii County and one out of state.

A total of 4,394 people have been released from isolation statewide, and there have been 700 required hospitalizations.
