Ukumehame fire fully contained
A 105-acre brush fire in Ukumehame was 100 percent contained as of Sunday morning, according to the Maui Fire Department.
Crews were working to mop up the fire, which still had “some smokers all within the burned area,” the Fire Department said.
The fire broke out at 11:52 a.m. Saturday near the Ukumehame Firing Range and was 70 percent contained by about 4 p.m. Saturday.
Responding to the incident were the department’s Air One, Two and Three helicopters; an engine and a tanker from Lahaina; an engine from Napili; a tanker from Wailea; and crews with the state Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Forestry and Wildlife.
No damages, evacuations or injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
