Healthcare.org sign-ups to begin

The open enrollment period for residents who need health insurance through the federal health insurance exchange and do not qualify for Medicaid is Monday through Dec. 15, the state Med-Quest Division said Tuesday.

Health plans for coverage that begins in January can be found at healthcare.org. Applicants are able to create an account at the website to determine eligibility for health plans and subsidies to help make the plans more affordable, the division said.

Interested applicants also can call (800) 318-2596.

Those who already receive coverage through the marketplace can review and update their applications at the website and report life changes.

To speak with an interpreter, call (800) 318-2596 and say “agent” or press 0. Once an agent is on the line, state the language needed. TTY users may call (855) 889-4325.

In Hawaii, the Med-Quest Division of the state Department of Human Services is assisting with community outreach and education for the federal marketplace.
