Police said they had Kaikala Young in custody in relation to a second-degree attempted murder case. No injuries were reported or sustained by Young or police personnel. The investigation was still active and ongoing, police said.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to the tennis courts at Haliimaile Park in response to a stabbing. Police found a 32-year-old victim with stab wounds.

The victim was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center for treatment, police said. Police did not have the victim’s condition Wednesday and did not release other details about the victim or the circumstances of the stabbing.

The male suspect fled the area with a sedan, which was later recovered by police. The sedan had been abandoned, police said.
