Woman charged with knife threat
A Molokai woman was arrested after allegedly brandishing a knife and lunging at her father after they argued Saturday afternoon at a Kaunakakai residence, according to police.
Maile Manintin, 32, of Kaunakakai was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, attempted second-degree assault, second-degree burglary and second-degree criminal trespassing. Her bail was increased to $3,100 when she appeared Monday afternoon in Molokai District Court, convening in Wailuku.
Manintin and her father were arguing in a residence on Kapaakea Loop at 1:46 p.m. Saturday when Manintin took an aggressive stance and lunged toward him while making a slashing motion with the knife, according to a declaration filed in court to support the charges. The father reported throwing a crushed beer can at Manintin to distract her before running to a neighbor’s house to call police.
Manintin was holding the knife while chasing her father to the residence, according to police.
Officers arrested Manintin nearby at about 2:10 p.m.
