Golf course to undergo upgrades

Waiehu Municipal Golf Course will remain open for play while improvements are made to the course’s wastewater system from Jan. 25 to Feb. 16, the county Department of Parks and Recreation announced.

The project includes the installation of a new 300-gallon-capacity grease interceptor as well as necessary sewer and drainage improvements.

The golf course will continue normal business hours; on weekdays, the starter’s booth will open at 6:30 a.m. and tee times will be from 6:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. On weekends and holidays, the booth opens at 5:30 a.m., with tee times from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During construction, the clubhouse entrance will be blocked off because a portion of the work area will cross an existing sidewalk. Public access to the starter’s booth and pro shop will be from the access aisle adjacent to the cart barn area.

The county asked the public to remain outside of construction area barriers at all times.

Tom’s Backhoe & Excavation Co. Inc. is the contractor.
