Half-acre of brush burns in Olowalu

About a half-acre of brush burned in a fire Tuesday afternoon in the “Cut Mountain” area along Honoapiilani Highway, according to the Maui Fire Department.

Lahaina engine, ladder and tanker companies responded to the 2:11 p.m. call along with a battalion chief. The fire was contained at 3 p.m. and extinguished at 4:52 p.m. 

The cause was undetermined.
