Maunaloa Post Office closes temporarily
The Maunaloa Post Office on Molokai has been temporarily closed due to structure and vector control concerns, the U.S. Postal Service announced Wednesday.
Located in a leased structure at 2 Maunaloa Road, Building 2, the post office provides retail services from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on weekdays and P.O. Box mail delivery to about 240 customers. It does not provide street mail delivery.
Effectively immediately and until further notice, Maunaloa P.O. Box customers must pick up their mail at the back door of the Hoolehua Post Office at 69-2 Puupeelua Avenue during its business hours.
The Hoolehua Post Office, which also closed from Feb. 3 to 9 over structural concerns, is open from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 4 p.m. weekdays.
“We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this temporary closure,” said USPS Manager of Post Office Operations Gary Logan, who oversees all Neighbor Island postal operations. “We’ll provide an update on the status of this facility as soon as more information is available.”
