10 inmates recover, active cases at 29

The number of active COVID-19 cases among inmates dropped to 29 at the Maui Community Correctional Center, with 10 inmate recoveries reported Tuesday by the state Department of Public Safety.

Since Feb. 1, 55 inmates have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Wailuku jail, according to the department. On Tuesday, 31 inmates were reported to be in medical isolation and 211 were in quarantine.

On Monday, the jail held 303 inmates, exceeding both its design capacity of 209 and operational capacity of 301, according to a department report.
