Active cases at jail grow to 39
The number of active COVID-19 cases at the Maui Community Correctional Center increased to 39, with five additional positive tests reported Monday, according to the Department of Public Safety.
The five positive test results were among 16 inmate results reported Monday. Eleven tests were negative.
Thirty-nine inmates were reported to be in medical isolation and 215 were in quarantine at the Wailuku jail.
Since Feb. 1, 55 inmates have tested positive for COVID-19. Sixteen of them have recovered, the department reported.
Of the 689 tests administered to inmates, 630 have been negative and four have been inconclusive, the department reported.
