Lanai campus to reopen today

Lanai High & Elementary School has been cleared to reopen with utilities back in working condition following a power outage last month.
The school will welcome elementary students, secondary vulnerable students and all staff back to campus starting today, Principal Elton Kinoshita said in a letter to parents and guardians on Tuesday.
Grab-and-go meal service will also resume today. Students picking up their meals will also receive lunch today in addition to breakfast for Thursday. The Aloha Backpack Buddies Program will revert back to operating on Friday.
The campus was forced to close on April 26 due to a power outage that also impacted the school’s phone lines and internet. “We’ve worked closely with the state Department of Accounting and General Services and Maui Electric Co. throughout this event, and our administration continues to work with county responders to ensure our power source is safe and stable,” Kinoshita said.
