Hearing to discuss concessions in parks

Maui County will hold an online public hearing on proposed rules for concession operations at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The proposal would add a chapter to county Department of Parks and Recreation rules to address the process for operations of concessions — including the sale of merchandise, refreshments and other services — in parks and recreational facilities. The Maui County Council adopted a law in May 2017 relating to concessions.

Members of the public can submit testimony at the hearing or via mail to: Department of Parks and Recreation, Permits Office, 700 Hali’a Nakoa St., Unit 2C, Wailuku, HI 96793. Written testimony must be received by the department before the close of the scheduled public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

At the end of the hearing, the department may take action on the proposed rule changes or defer and announce a date for action.
