Kahului Post Office to host passport fair
The Maui News
The Kahului Post Office will take applications for new passports during its weekend passport fair on Saturday, the U.S. Postal Service announced.
The event will be held from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kahului Post Office at 138 S. Puunene Ave.
More than 220 new passport applications were processed at the post office’s passport fairs in March, May and June. Some applicants even included out-of-state visitors who said the wait for passport application appointments in their home areas ranged from three to four months.
Applicants are advised to complete their DS-11 application for a new passport in advance, print it and bring it unsigned to the event with an acceptable passport photo, fees and documents. To access the document, visit travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/forms.html.
Advance registration is required, and only 100 appointment slots are available, USPS said. Walk-in customers with completed paperwork will be accommodated only if time permits. To register, email HawaiiPassportFair@state.gov.
Passport applicants must wear face masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
