COVID-19 at a Glance

Latest developments:

• State Department of Health on Wednesday reported 346 new confirmed and probable cases statewide, including 223 on Oahu, 63 on Hawaii island, 29 on Maui, five on Kauai and 26 residents diagnosed out of state.

• There have now been 43,962 confirmed and probable cases statewide, including 31,710 on Oahu, 5,489 in Maui County (5,295 on Maui, 117 on Lanai and 81 on Molokai), 4,353 on Hawaii island and 579 on Kauai. A total of 1,827 residents have been diagnosed out of state.

• New deaths were reported Wednesday. The statewide fatality count remains at 538, including 413 on Oahu, 62 on Maui, 58 on Hawaii island, two on Kauai and three residents who died out of state.

• As of Wednesday, 62 percent of all residents in Honolulu County had completed their vaccination process, followed by 60 percent in Kauai County, 57 percent in Hawaii County and 54 percent in Maui County.

• The state Department of Education on Wednesday announced that all student-athletes, athletic staff and volunteers will need to be fully vaccinated by Sept. 24 to participate in school-sanctioned athletic activities for the 2021-22 school year.

• High school sports across the state pushed back their seasons to Sept. 24, due to the surge in COVID-19 cases and the Delta variant.
