Changes proposed to firing range rules

Maui County is proposing a change to the rules at the firing range in Ukumehame to require firearms to be registered.

The county Department of Parks and Recreation will hold an online public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 10 to discuss the proposed changes.

Interested individuals may submit data, views, arguments or other testimony orally or in writing at the hearing.

Written testimony may be mailed to Department of Parks and Recreation, Permits Office, 700 Halia Nakoa St., Unit 2-C, Wailuku, HI 96793. Written testimony must be received by the department before the close of the public hearing on Nov. 10.

At the end of the hearing, the department may take action on the proposed rule amendments or defer and announce a date when department action will occur.
