The 70-foot-by-10-foot mural depicting the school’s mascots, Tiger Sharks, was created by Salvador as an entry for a design contest held by art teacher Maile Getzen. Salvador said her design was inspired by the book “Life of Pi.” Materials for the project were paid for through donations raised on the nationwide crowdfunding site, DonorsChoose. Salvador and Queirolo said they started painting Monday and expected to be finished Friday.
