Tourism management in Maui Nui to be focus of meetings

The Hawaii Tourism Authority and Maui Visitors and Convention Bureau are encouraging the public to share their views on the future direction of tourism in Maui County during virtual meetings next month.

During the meetings, which will be held for each island, tourism leaders will provide island updates specific to Maui, Lanai and Molokai in a process that serves as a guide to rebuild, redefine and reset the direction of tourism on the three islands, according to a news release. Participants will have the opportunity to provide comments and ask questions.

The sessions will cover updates on the Maui Nui Destination Management Action Plan, updates on island-specific actions, the Community Enrichment Program, Malama Hawaii program and visitor statistics.

Meeting dates and times by island are as follows:

• Maui, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 2.

• Lanai, 8 to 9:30 a.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9.

• Molokai, 8 to 9:30 a.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12.

Registration links and meeting agendas for each island are available at www.hawaiitourismauthority.org/what-we-do/events/.

Presentations will be made via Zoom. Registration is free and open to the public. Advance registration is recommended as capacity is limited. Presentations will be posted to HTA’s website for those unable to attend.
