Webinar to discuss booster shots

The Maui News

AARP Hawaii will host a free webinar for kupuna on the COVID-19 vaccine booster at noon on Oct. 15.

Dr. Aida Wen, associate professor of geriatric medicine at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii, and C.J. Johnson, outreach specialist with the state Department of Health, will speak at the webinar.

“We think it’s critical that kupuna get information from reliable sources about COVID-19, the vaccine booster shots, new variants and what the state is doing to make booster shots available for those eligible,” AARP Hawaii State Director Keali’i Lopez said in a news release Tuesday.

To register to get a Zoom link, visit aarp.org/nearyou or facebook.com/AARP Hawaii and click on “Upcoming Events.”

Kupuna and others can also get updates on vaccinations and information on booster shots at aarp.org/hi or aarp.org/vaccineinfo.

DOH also has a phone line open during business hours Monday through Friday at (808) 586-8332, and Aloha United Way also takes vaccine questions at 211 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
