Fire burns 2 acres off Pulehu Road

About 2 acres of brush were burned Wednesday afternoon along Pulehu Road, fire officials said.

Emergency crews were alerted at 12:38 p.m. and responded to reports of a car fire, which also spread to nearby brush, the Fire Department said.

Mahi Pono and Alpha Construction brought heavy equipment to assist MFD crews.

Engine 10, Tanker 10 and Hazmat 10 from Kahului, along with Engine 13 from Kula and Tanker 14 from Wailea, responded to the blaze.

The fire was contained within an hour.

Crews were conducting mop-up operations and working on fully extinguishing the fire as of 4 p.m. Wednesday.
