Man arrested after entering apartment

WAILUKU — A man was arrested Sunday night after he allegedly entered a Kihei apartment while the residents were home.

Kawika Henderson, 29, of Haiku, who is also known as Kaile Heredia, was charged with second-degree unauthorized entry into a dwelling.

The defendant “entered a random house, a random building through an unlocked door,” Deputy Prosecutor Frank Loyd Jr. said during Henderson’s initial appearance Monday in Wailuku District Court.

The tenants told police Henderson had a syringe in his arm and was saying, “Where’s the stuff? Where’s the stuff?” after being asked to leave, Loyd said.

Henderson, who reportedly entered the apartment in the 2000 block of South Kihei Road at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday, was given a chance to keep a second-degree burglary conviction off his record when he was sentenced in June, Loyd said.

While he asked for bail to remain at $1,000, Henderson asked to have bail reduced or to be released on supervision. He works part time doing car detailing, said Deputy Public Defender Emily Collins.

Judge Chris Dunn kept bail at $1,000.
