COVID-19 at a Glance

Latest developments:

• State Department of Health on Thursday reported 126 new confirmed and probable cases statewide, including 52 cases on Oahu, 34 cases on Kauai, 18 cases on Maui, 17 cases on Hawaii island and six residents diagnosed out of state. One case was removed from Molokai’s count.

• There have now been 87,898 confirmed and probable cases statewide, including 59,673 on Oahu, 11,725 in Hawaii County, 10,414 in Maui County (10,024 on Maui, 245 on Molokai and 145 on Lanai) and 3,156 on Kauai. A total of 2,930 Hawaii residents have been diagnosed outside of the state.

• One new death was reported Thursday; the statewide fatality count is now at 1,027.

• Honolulu County is averaging 43 new cases a day and a test positivity rate of 1.1 percent, followed by Kauai County at 16 cases and 3.6 percent, Maui County at 15 cases and 1.9 percent and Hawaii County at 10 cases and 2 percent.

• Hawaii has reached a 71.5 percent vaccination rate of the total population statewide, with Honolulu County at 75 percent, Kauai County at 68 percent and Maui and Hawaii counties both at 64 percent.

• DOH on Thursday confirmed the discovery of the omicron variant on Oahu, the first known case in the islands. The person had no history of travel and had not been vaccinated but had contracted COVID-19 before.
