Flags at half-staff in honor of Dole

U.S. and state flags will be flown at half-staff at state offices and agencies and the Hawaii National Guard through sunset Thursday in honor of the late Robert Dole.

Dole, who died Sunday at age 98, represented Kansas in the U.S. Senate from 1969 to 1996. He was the 1996 Republican presidential nominee.

Gov. David Ige ordered that flags be flown at half-staff starting Sunday at the direction of President Joe Biden.

“Bob Dole served this nation wholeheartedly with dignity and respect,” Ige said in a news release. “After serving in World War II, he helped build a better future for all of us, and we recognize and honor his patriotic service.”
