Weather postpones in-person festival

The 8th annual Hawaiian Airlines Made in Maui County Festival’s in-person shopping event has been postponed due to stormy weather and flood concerns, organizers announced Friday.

Originally planned as an all-virtual event, the festival ran into a snag in November when the website crashed during key shopping hours, prompting organizers to reschedule a hybrid in-person and virtual event this weekend for vendors.

The in-person event had been scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today at the War Memorial Stadium events field.

Festival organizers instead are urging the community to “stay dry and shop local” by participating in the virtual shopping segment at madeinmauicountyfestival.com. There will be livestreamed programming and entertainment, a scavenger hunt and online shopping via Facebook, a news release said.

The in-person shopping event will be rescheduled for later this month.
