Woman dies after falling down a cliff

A 54-year-old Haiku woman died Thursday after falling 50 feet down a steep cliff face near Kaupo, fire officials said Friday.

The woman, who fell onto a rocky and very inaccessible shoreline was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel, fire officials added.

Engine 7 from Hana, Rescue 10 from Kahului aboard the Air 1 helicopter along with Maui Medivac and AMR paramedics all responded to the scene. Time of alarm was at 1:41 p.m.
