Citations issued for tobacco sales to minors

Three tobacco sales were made to minors last month during compliance checks at 27 businesses in Maalaea, Olowalu, Lahaina, Kapalua and Kaanapali, police reported.

The checks were done April 16 as part of Operation “Kruisin’ Against Tobacco Sales,” which is funded by the state Department of Health.

Police documented three tobacco sales to minor decoys under age 21 who were provided through the Health Department. Three criminal citations were issued for the violations.

Police juvenile investigators and Wailuku patrol officers worked with the University of Hawaii to carry out the operation.
