DUI Sentences

THE FOLLOWING SENTENCES for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor occurred during the period of May 6 to 13. The listings include the offender’s name, age, residence and charges. First offenders undergo a 14-hour alcohol abuse rehabilitation program, a substance abuse evaluation and a one-year license suspension with the ability to operate a vehicle if qualified for an ignition interlock device.

Wailuku District Court:

Flavio Carrano Torres, 42, Kula; DUI; $250 fine, plus fees.

Sueann Kaauwai, 36, Kahului; DUI (second offense, highly intoxicated); 10-day jail term, $1,000 fine, plus fees, 240 hours of community service, three-year driver’s license revocation.

Kahokumalamalama Kealoha, 21, Kahului; DUI; $250 fine, plus fees.

Malusio Latu, 35, Kahuku, Oahu; DUI; two-day jail term, $250 fine, plus fees, 18-month driver’s license revocation.

Caitlin McKnight, 28, Kihei; DUI (second offense); 10-day jail term, 240 hours of community service, three-year driver’s license revocation.

Lane Nelson, 67, Kihei; DUI (highly intoxicated); two-day jail term, $250 fine, plus fees, 18-month driver’s license revocation.

Heston Puckett, 24, Wailuku; DUI, driving without a license (second offense), open container; two-day jail term, $300 in fines, plus fees.

Julio Santana Portillo Echeverria, 31, Kihei; DUI (highly intoxicated)(, leaving the scene of an accident involving damage to vehicle or property; $450 in fines, plus fees.

Lahaina District Court:

Alvin Diaz, 35, Napili; DUI, inattention to driving; $500 in fines, plus fees.

Second Circuit Court:

Devin Balberdi, 27, Wailuku; third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, DUI (highly intoxicated); two-day jail term, $250 fine, plus fees, four years’ probation, 18-month driver’s license revocation.
