Woman arrested for alleged DUI in crash

WAILUKU — A woman was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of a drug after a collision Thursday night in Kahului.

Kelsea Dorris, 23, of Wailuku was charged with third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, fourth-degree promotion of a harmful drug, operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant and driving without a license.

Her bail was set at $1,200.

According to a declaration filed in court to support the charges, a police investigation showed Dorris was driving a vehicle that crossed left of center and collided head on with another vehicle. After the collision was reported at 8:36 p.m. in the 400 block of Puunene Avenue, Dorris was found to be unsteady on her feet, having slurred speech and falling asleep while standing, according to the declaration.

Police reported finding .02 gram of suspected heroin in a half-tablespoon in her vehicle.
