MEDB seeks input on economic plan

A local organization is seeking public input on a plan that will help guide future economic development in Maui County.

The Maui Economic Development Board is coordinating the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Report, a process undertaken every five to six years, according to a MEDB news release. The report is a federally mandated, locally based strategic plan for regional economic development and capacity building, with an emphasis on economic resilience and job creation.

MEDB facilitates community input for the report, which is then delivered and presented to policy and decision-makers and will be published online. The report for Maui County will be combined with similar reports from other counties to provide a “road map” document to guide decision-making statewide.

An action plan with “SMART” goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) will be created, facilitated and implemented over the next few years.

Maui County residents can complete the community survey by July 1 at forms.office.com/r/vCckQ3eFwC.
