Native Hawaiian youth to host mayoral forum

Maui County mayoral candidates will participate in a forum hosted by Ka Leo O Na ‘Opio, a collaboration of individuals and organizations dedicated to Native Hawaiian youth civic engagement.

The forum will take place virtually via Zoom and will be livestreamed on Facebook at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Six of the eight candidates are participating in the forum so far — Cullan Bell, Kim Brown, Richard Bissen, Mike Molina, Kelly King and Jonah Lion.

All mayoral candidates were invited to participate and will be added to the lineup upon their confirmation.

Gabby Constantino, a Haiku resident and student at the University of Hawaii Maui College, will moderate the event.

KONO also hosted two forums earlier this week for candidates running for Office of Hawaiian Affairs trustee.

A governor’s forum is set for July 6 and 7.
