The 74-year-old man killed in the single motor vehicle collision in Kahului on Wednesday has been identified as Edward Rebella of Kahului, Maui police said Thursday afternoon.

Rebella, the driver and only person in the silver 2020 Honda CR-V, was traveling northeast on Kuikahi Drive when he failed to navigate the turn at the intersection and drove through the grassy median and into the opposing lane, police said. The vehicle continued to travel straight, drove over the raised curb, onto the opposing shoulder and collided into a tree.

Rebella was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Canter for further treatment, where the later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
