Poinsettias benefit UH-MC ag program
University of Hawaii Maui College’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Department Program Coordinator and Instructor Mach Fukuda helps Wailuku’s Nancy Halley pick out a “Candy Cane” poinsettia during the program’s annual Poinsettia and Ceramics Sale Saturday morning. “I always like to support education in the community and these prices are reasonable,” Halley said. The 1,200 poinsettias grown over 90 days by 14 students taking the Principles of Horticulture class were nearly sold-out within the first hour of the sale. All proceeds benefit the agriculture program.
