Disaster, Resilience, International Affairs, and Planning Committee to meet Nov. 20

The Disaster, Resilience, International Affairs and Planning Committee intends to discuss matters relating to the establishment of the proposed West Maui Hospital and Medical Center at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 20.

Additionally, the committee may receive a presentation from Jo Anne Johnson Winer, president of the West Maui Hospital Foundation, and Charles Slaton, CEO of the Critical Access Healthcare Management, on the establishment of the proposed West Maui Hospital and Medical Center, the financing of the proposed West Maui hospital through state special purpose revenue bonds and other related matters. No legislative action will be taken.

The committee is also expected to discuss matters relating to a proposed conditional change in zoning to West Maui Project District 5 (Pulelehua) for real property identified as tax map keys (2) 4-3-001:082 and (2) 4-3-001:083.

The committee may discuss the proposed conditional change in zoning to West Maui Project District 5 with the Department of Environmental Management, Department of Housing, Department of Parks and Recreation, Department of Planning, Department of Water Supply, Maui Nui Resiliency Hui and Maui Oceanview, and other related matters. No legislative action will be taken.

The discussion is related to Resolution 24-174, introduced by West Maui councilmember Tamara Paltin, urging the Administration to provide for the establishment of the proposed West Maui Hospital and Medical Center through the guarantee of State Special Purpose Revenue Bond Issuance.
