Megan’s Top 10: Tis’ the season to not miss a single fun event on Maui
We hope you enjoyed yourself during the Thanksgiving holidays and are gearing up for the next round of festivities coming up. Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or just looking forward to spending time with your friends and loved ones, there’s lots of ways to get in the holiday spirit this coming week.
Indulge in a special Far Niente Wine Dinner event at the Kula Lodge on Friday, or head to the Sugar Museum for some Holiday Fun on Saturday. Wailuku’s First Friday is here and you can get a good laugh at the South Maui Gardens with a performance by Augie T.

1. Augie T. in the South Maui Gardens (Thursday, Dec. 5; 6:30 p.m., Kihei): This Friday night you can see the acclaimed comedian Augie T. in the South Maui Gardens at 6:30 p.m. For only $25 ($30 at the door) Augie T. will be bringing his island vibes as one of the “Funniest Comics” in Hawaii. The South Maui Gardens is located at 35 Auhana Road in Kihei.
2. Hui Holidays First Night (Thursday, Dec. 5; 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., Makawao): Celebrate the holiday season with the Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center’s beloved Hui Holidays First Night event! Gather your friends and join in for a festive night at the Kaluanui Estate. There will be locally made items from the gift shop for sale, as well as exclusive one-night-only vendors present. 3. Far Niente Wine Dinner at the Kula Lodge (Friday, Dec. 6; 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Kula): Head to the Kula Lodge this Friday for an exclusive evening of world class food and wines on Maui. The Kula Lodge executive Chef Raul Bermudez and Executive Sous Chef Junior Ulep will craft an island-inspired five course dinner with optional pairings from Napa Valley’s Far Niente portfolio of wines presented by Western Regional Sales Manager and co-host John Rice. The Mākaha Sons at the MACC (Friday, Dec. 6; 7 p.m., Kahului): Considered to be one of Hawaii’s premier musical Hawaiian groups, The Mākaha Sons are the recipient of multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, and were inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame. For over 40 years, The Mākaha Sons continue to perpetuate traditional Hawaiian music in Hawai’i and worldwide. Ticket sales vary, starting at $45 online. Prices vary the day of the show. 5. Wailuku First Friday (Friday, Dec.6; 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Wailuku): It’s winter in Wailuku this Friday. Head on down to celebrate the holidays during this monthly gathering from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Check out local vendors, food, music and more!
6. Filipino First Friday (Friday, Dec. 6; 9 p.m.-11 p.m., Kahului): Don’t miss this Filipino First Friday event as it’s the last one of the year. 7. Holiday Fun Day at the Sugar Museum (Saturday, Dec. 7; 9 a.m.- 1 p.m., Puʻun“n”): Bring the family out for a special holiday event at the Sugar Museum this weekend. 8. 2024 Annual Holiday Makeke (Saturday, Dec. 7; 9:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m., Upcountry): Head on down to 51 Calasa Road, across from the Kula Fire Station, for this holiday event that will feature one-of-a-kind handcrafted gifts from local Maui crafters and artisans.
9. 6th Annual Christmas Fair & Electric Golf Cart Parade (Saturday, Dec. 7; 4 p.m., Pukalani): The 6th Annual Christmas Fair & Electric Golf Cart Parade will take place this weekend at the Pukalani Country Club. Admission to the event is free.
10. Maui Comic Con (Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 7-8; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Kahului): The Hex Press presents the return of Maui Comic Con this weekend at the University of Hawaii Maui College. The convention is a family-friendly event and is FREE. This year is the 40th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and many Mirage Comics alums will be appearing. Check it out.
