Boil water advisory lifted for Upper Kula areas

A boil water advisory for Upper Kula areas was lifted Tuesday after testing showed no E.Coli and no total coliforms bacteria in the water.

The Maui County Department of Water Service announced the initial water samples taken Sunday, as well as another round of samples taken Monday, were negative for the presence of E.Coli and total coliforms. The samples taken Monday were reviewed Tuesday morning when the boil water advisory was lifted.

The boil water notice had been issued for customers in Upper Kula areas that lost water service or experienced low water pressure following a main line break caused by heavy rains Jan. 30 to 31. Water service was restored Feb. 1 after repairs were completed.

Potable water tankers had been positioned in the Kula area while the advisory was in effect.
