UPDATE: On Friday, Maui police reported that Kaimaile Makekau and her son were located and found to be in good health, and police thanked the public for their assistance.

Maui police are asking for the public’s help finding a woman who allegedly fled a supervised family court visitation at Keopuolani Park in Kahului on Thursday with her 7-year-old son.

According to police, at approximately 2:55 p.m. Thursday, Kaimaile Makekau fled the park with her son headed toward Kahului Beach Road. Police said they searched the vicinity but were unsuccessful in finding them.

Kaimaile Makekau, 41, is described as Hawaiian, 5-foot-7 and weighs about 145 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a brown T-shirt and camouflage pants.
