Hawaiian Electric to host emergency preparedness open houses
Hawaiian Electric will host two open houses on emergency preparedness to help Maui residents prepare for hurricane and wildfire season.
The open houses will include presentations from Hawaiian Electric, the Maui Emergency Management Agency, Hawai’i Wildfire Management Organization and the Maui Fire Department, along with resource tables from various community partners.
The Upcountry Maui event is set for April 26, at the King Kekaulike High School cafeteria. The West Maui event will be May 3 at the Lahaina Intermediate School cafeteria. Presentations will run from 9-10 a.m., followed by a resource fair until noon.
The events will highlight Hawaiian Electric’s Public Safety Power Shutoff program, implemented in 2024 to reduce wildfire risk. For more, go to HawaiianElectric.com/psps.
