Lahaina Deed Restriction Grant Program gets $37,500 boost

The Holomua Collective has been awarded $37,500 for its Lahaina Deed Restriction Grant Program through a partnership between the Central Pacific Bank Foundation and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.

A handful of Hawaiʻi nonprofit organizations have received a combined $625,000 in funding through the partnership, according to the organization.

The CPB Foundation selected the nonprofits based on need and their ability to support local residents. The federal bank provided matching funds through its Member Impact Fund, which offers up to $1.50 for every $1 contributed by a member bank.

Among the largest funding recipients was aio Foundation, which received $275,000 for Hui Mahiai Village, a planned community in Waimānalo that will provide housing and communal facilities for around 192 individuals experiencing homelessness.

Other awards include:

$62,500 to King Lunalilo Trust to help fund pre-development costs for a 20-unit affordable housing project in Hawaii Kai;

$37,500 to St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaiʻi to support long-term sustainability efforts;

$37,500 to the Institute for Human Services for construction of new administrative offices;

$25,000 to Hawaiian Community Assets to assist low- and moderate-income residents with financial self-sufficiency; and

$25,000 to Child & Family Service for programs supporting families and preventing child abuse.
